CORPORATE VOLUNTEER EVENTS

We believe that when a caring adult tells a child that
their words and ideas matter, that child will believe them.

Each year, thousands of kids send us their original stories and we cannot adapt them all. Instead, we work with thousands of volunteers to provide personalized notes that compliment each author’s creativity and encourage their future writing. This endeavor has been recognized with a Bronze Anthem Award and a Silver Shorty Impact recognition and is powered by major corporations and their volunteer programs.

Through Story Love, your colleagues read awesome stories written by kids from around the world and write 30,000 inspiring notes back to kids each year. Your sponsorship ensures that our arts and literacy programming remains accessible to under-resourced schools and students across the US.

During an hour-long Story Love event—virtual or in-person— as few as 5 and as many as 200 volunteers can come together to read original stories written by kids and provide encouragement to their young authors. With as little as 2-3 weeks’ notice, we can set up an event for your team and take care of everything.

Story Love Event Options

  • The Happy Hour - a meaningful time for your team to gather, laugh, and make a difference. With this option, volunteers will each have their own set of stories to read and be encouraged to share delightful details with the group.

  • The Team Builder - a unique bonding experience is built into your event by having participants work in small groups to read and respond to stories together, building camaraderie and connection in a format unlike any other.

  • The DIY - colleagues to participate on their own time with recorded instructions, the ability to access stories remotely, and a designated facilitator to answer questions along the way.

Inspire Kids Around the World

The simple process of writing a Story Love note can inspire a kid
to believe in their own creativity for a lifetime.

She says she is going to hang a copy of your handwritten notes on her wall in her bedroom. So thanks for much for taking the time to do this, we really appreciate it and it means a lot to her. Also, she has dyslexia and sometimes gets discouraged because of this, so your note was especially meaningful to encourage her to keep writing stories.
In Clayton’s words he ”lost his mind” reading the response. He was so happy. As a parent I greatly appreciate your taking this time for a personal response. It will absolutely help motivate him and his friends to keep writing stories. This is certainly one of those small moments that will continue to yield results for years to come.
Unless my goldfish dies, nothing can make me sad today because I got a letter from a pirate.
WOW. Thank you so much for your email! You made my son’s day. He is a reluctant writer, but was inspired by you guys. Now he’s just over the moon and eager to write a sequel :)
